Scanning the plains I see him, bold and proud
Standing like a mighty fortress in the hot sun
The heat blurs the vision, yet he knows my presence
We have stood together
Across the ages and witnessed much
His was a road to almost total extermination
I hear the pounding of hooves echo across the plains
The past haunts the present, demanding justice
Where thousands thundered
Now only a few remain
Eye to eye we have met
I feel his pain deep in my soul
His spirit lives in the earth, it is his domain
His voice bellows over the dry grass
And shakes my very being
He was defenseless against his murderers
His soul screamed survival, he must live
He is reborn and flourishes
~He is the Mighty Buffalo~
~Love looks not with the eyes but with the heart~
Please take the wolf and
send her on her way around
the world to continue
her walk
in the name of the plight
of the animals who cannot
speak
for themselves yet continue
to die at the hands of
humans.
A Lakota Prayer
Great Spirit, you are
everything
And yet above everything
You are first and always
have been
Through you our children
will have strong hearts
And they will walk the
straight path in a sacred
manner
Help me to walk the sacred
path of life
Without difficulty
With my mind and heart
continually fixed on you!
Amen
